2 c sugar
1/4 c lard
2 c buttermilk
1 tsp soda (in buttermilk)
3 c flour
2 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c mincemeat (canned)
1 c chopped nut meats
Pinch salt
Sift together flour, cocoa, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Blend sugar and lard, gradually add buttermilk and dry ingredients. Add mincemeat and nuts. Grease and flour 3 cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Make a large cake. Frost with burnt sugar icing.
