In order to get in on the best deals, you must be the "early bird." The eairler you arrive, you will most likely have the chance of beating the antique dealers, shop owners, etc.

Mapping out your plan ahead of time is a must. Try and find the areas that have the most sales close together. This allows you to cover more merchandise in a shorter time.

Once you find that special item that someone else considers junk, check the price. If it is reasonable, try not to insult the owner by low-balling them. If it is priced high then consider it alright to negotiate a lesser price with them, after all, it is secondhand.

You may find that many people will get rid of items that are salvagable or can be considered a "fixer upper." If you find yourself rather handy, you will many times come out ahead buying this way.

Try not to come away discouraged if you leave empty-handed, most items are usually not worth buying, however if you are consistent in your endeavors, you may find that treasure you have been holding out for.
